    Deer Rifle Courses

Our deer courses are designed and provided as a qualifying course for members in NI who wish to obtain a rifle of a suitable calibre conditioned to allow them to shoot deer.

The courses are run in the Bushtown Hotel at Coleraine, and all of the candidates who have taken part in these popular courses agree that they are enjoyable, educational and rewarding.

Demand for places on these Northern Ireland Deer Rifle Courses remains high, which reflects the growing interest in deer stalking and boar shooting both at home and abroad.

With members visiting the Republic of Ireland, mainland Britain, Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand to shoot and photograph deer and wildlife, stalking seems to be at an all time high.  It’s also increasingly noticeable how many shooters are interested in deer and wildlife photography in the closed season.

An unexpected development has been the number of stalkers enquiring into metallic ammunition reloading. As requested by our members, we are happy to arrange reloading courses and, if you are interested in taking part, please contact Elspeth Macleod as above.

We would like to thank all who have participated in the Deer Rifle Courses for their positive comments, and wish them every success both with rifle and camera. We always welcome feedback from our members on all shooting, firearms & countryside subjects, which helps us to continue working close to members' needs.

Finally, we would like to thank our Scottish stalker friends for their help and co-operation in organising stalking for our members in Scotland, where deerstalking is much more easily obtained. For information on available stalking in Scotland for SACS members, please contact any of the following:  Elspeth Macleod - 01698 885206 or, Bert Taggart at or Eamon Toner at
