DEVELOPMENTS
As the years have passed, we have recruited almost twenty thousand members, from all walks of life. Our membership continues to grow strongly, and SACS is involved with any matters which affect the countryside. We also work with the other countryside organisations, to make sure that resources are not being wasted by duplication of effort.
Around ten years ago, country sportsmen in Northern Ireland, who had come to feel as the Scots had felt five years before, invited us to provide our services to them, and we now have over three thousand members there.
We have had a strong influence in changing Firearms Policy in N.I., and were successful in having many of the unwanted parts of the current N.I. Firearms Order (which came into effect in December 2004) removed or reworded to make things easier for our members in NI.
Over the years, our influence and membership has continued to spread, and we now look after members throughout the UK, while still maintaining what could be described as our ‘Scottish’ approach - in other words, we don’t stand any nonsense from anyone!
