Fishing

Northern Ireland has some of the best game fishing in Europe and like it’s next door neighbour, the Republic of Ireland, has the best limestone lough trout fishing just about anywhere, with record breaking fish. The bog lough trout fishing is wonderful “craic”. The fish aren’t big, but they think they are and they fight hard.
Below are some contacts in case you’re looking for a place to wet a line:

For the Republic of Ireland:
My best advice: talk to the local tackle shops - local angling club waters are always good and most sell day tickets. Hotels sell inclusive angling holidays and can arrange access to good private beats on excellent salmon waters and they know the best boatmen on our loughs.
www.irelandflyfishing.com/about.php Fly fishing in some parts of Ireland is considered an art form and mayfly fishing is considered the “Holy Grail”. If you visit the loughs to fish trout in mayfly hatch time expect to have plenty of company and book your boat & guide early.
Sea angling in Ireland is on the increase and ranges from summer days mackerel fishing trips to blue shark off the west coast, record Tope in Carlingford Lough on the east coast and Lough Swilly on the north coast.
Course fishing has always been one of Northern Ireland’s top visitor sports with record breaking bags being recorded and pike you’ll remember for a long time.
Discover Ireland brochures cover all of Ireland and list recommended accommodation from B&B, farmhouse & hotel.
