INSURANCE
Nowadays it is just plain foolish to take part in any form of country sports without third party (public liability) insurance. Whether you accidentally shoot something, your dog causes a problem or your golden eagle sneaks off with the Yorkshire Terrier owned by the little old lady down the road, you are in constant danger of being sued.
A claim may not be limited to the replacement of something damaged – there could be legal fees involved, and all sorts of other associated costs. Can you imagine, just as a simple example, if your dog runs through a hedge onto a road, causing a road accident where someone is seriously hurt? The damages awarded against you could run into hundreds of thousands of pounds.
As a member of SACS, each individual is covered for up to £10m for each incident, for all forms of country sports, anywhere in the world.
That is all very well to compensate others if you are sued, but what about you, the member?
Anyone who takes part in any country sport nowadays is in constant danger of having allegations made against them by so-called ‘animal welfare’ charities who simply disapprove of country sports, and charges under the various wildlife & countryside Acts are becoming more common all the time.
Those who shoot are in particular danger of having difficulties in respect of renewals, revocations or refusal to vary their Firearm and Shotgun Certificates, as Chief Constables try to tighten even further the way they interpret the Firearms legislation.
You have a legal right of appeal against the decision of a Chief Constable if he does something you don’t like, but the cost of an appeal could be as much as £20,000
All SACS members have £100,000 legal fees insurance cover as part of their membership, so you can relax in the knowledge that if something does happen, your case will be dealt with by expert solicitors at no cost to you, the member.
We challenge you to find this level of cover at this price anywhere else!
