SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT COVID-19 LAND MANAGEMENT GUIDANCE PUBLISHED

Scottish Government have today published their Covid-19 guidance for land management activities. Originally aimed at forestry activities, this is comprehensive guidance for a variety of land management functions, including estate and wildlife management.

SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT COVID-19 LAND MANAGEMENT GUIDANCE PUBLISHED

Extract: "This document sets out guidance on how to work safely. It gives practical considerations of how this can be applied in forestry operations. The information and advice contained in this guidance can also be used to protect workers carrying out other outdoor work such as peatland restoration, wildlife and nature reserve management, and ecological surveys and research. These are included in this document under the broad heading of environmental management."

At 19 pages, this is a fairly long guidance document, but made easier if you focus on the sections relevant to you and your circumstances. If you are employed in the rural and land sector then do please make your employer aware of this new document, which should be helpful to them in these challenging and confusing times.

In regard to wider country sports guidance, following detailed discussions with our insurers, SACS is clear that non-government and non-clinical organisations should not take it upon themselves to draft their own Covid-19 guidance, particularly where no clinical or professional advice has been sought and circumstances and Government guidance itself are rapidly changing. It is Government's job to provide headline guidance, which we can then apply to our own individual circumstances.
