Bereavement Guidance and Guidance for Referees and Verifiers

Police Scotland Firearms Licensing have recently published the following documents on their website.

The first, Advice for Referees and Verifiers details the considerations that those who are intending to be referees or verifiers (for air weapons in Scotland) should take.  It clearly details what the role is.

We consider it a helpful guidance document.

The second document, again is a helpful document which is designed to help certificates holders and their family and friends at times of bereavement.  At an extremely difficult time for all, it is a document which should help make decisions in what to do with guns more straightforward.

The document can be found at the following link;

https://www.scotland.police.uk/about-us/what-we-do/firearms-and-explosives-licensing/firearms-licensing-after-bereavement/

We are aware of moves to make this a standard UK document but in the meantime, they will likely be of use to all certificate holders in the UK, no matter that they are badged as a Police Scotland document.

As ever, if you have any queries re this matter, please don’t hesitate to phone the office and we will do our best to help you.
