Home Office Consultation – Removal of sound moderators from certification.

The Home Office today circulated a consultation proposing the removal of sound moderators from the certification process.  This will require a change to the Firearms Act 1968.  We have been lobbying, along with other shooting organisations, for this for many years.  It just makes sense.

The consultation closes on 2 April 2024 and the link to the consultation is as follows;

Firearms licensing: sound moderators - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

The link to respond electronically to the consultation is;

We would ask that you read the consultation.  It provides the justification for the change, and it is always better to read the source document.  There are only four questions.  We would suggest that you strongly agree with all four.

If you have any queries re this, as ever, please do not hesitate to contact the office for advice.  It is your organisation, and we are here to help.
